The Oak tree was planted on May 7th 1945 to commemorate the end of the war in Europe.

The oak is located on the north side of Royal Avenue just inside the Rivers gate to Royal Victoria Park
Location of Victory in Europe Oak The plaque contains the following inscription:
Victory in Europe oak plaque

The text reads:

 "Oak Tree
Planted by and in the time of Councillor E. E. Clements, Mayor, to commemorate victory in Europe
May 7th 1945"
