World Heritage Site - Abbey Churchyard

What is it?

Wikipedia:   The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Sites are places of importance to cultural or natural heritage as described in the UNESCO World Heritage Convention, established in 1972. There are 33 UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the United Kingdom and the British Overseas Territories. The City of Bath was inscribed as a World Heritage Site in 1987 and again as Bath Spa (as a component of the Great Spas of Europe) in July 2021.

Where is it in Bath?

One plaque is fixed to railings in front of the Pump Room extension in Abbey Churchyard:

The text reads

"The City of Bath - World Heritage Site The World Heritage Symbol commemorates the inscription by UNESCO of the City of Bath on the World Heritage List in 1987. This identifies the city as a masterpiece of human creative genius whose protection must be the concern of all."

The plaque has now been replaced by an updated version, including reference to the Great Spa Towns of Europe inscription:

"This symbol commemorates the inclusion of Bath on the UNESCO World Heritage List. First inscribed as the City of Bath in 1987 it was inscribed a second time in 2021 as part of the Great Spa Towns of Europe."

Another identical plaque is fixed to the railings in Stall Street.

To the left of the plaque is an information board about the Mayor of Bath's Guides.
